Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III

On May 6, 2023, Canadians will celebrate the Coronation of our monarch, His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

King Charles III has been visiting Canada for over 50 years and has a close relationship with Canada.

As a constitutional monarchy and Commonwealth realm, Canada will be marking this milestone event with a number of national initiatives that celebrate the close ties between His Majesty and Canada, and the role the Crown plays in our system of government.

Coronation Website

Canadian Heritage launched a website dedicated to the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, including information on how Canada will celebrate the Coronation across the country (www.canada.ca/coronation).

The celebrations will be televised live across Canada and will be available on Canadian Heritage’s YouTube channel and on the Crown in Canada Facebook account so all Canadians can participate.

Illuminations

On May 6 and 7, 2023, communities throughout the United Kingdom and Commonwealth will mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III with coordinated illuminations of iconic locations. Illuminations will start at sunset until midnight local time on both May 6 and May 7.
