1. ‘Meeting the Challenge of Reconciliation: The Government of the Northwest Territories’ Response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action’ [add link] was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on October 5, 2015. Meeting the Challenge is intended to be the GNWT’s initial response to the recommendations outlined in Calls to Action. The GNWT’s response highlights the many actions that the GNWT has taken to date and commits to further action aimed at achieving reconciliation.
2. “Respect, Recognition, Responsibility”: “Respect, Recognition, Responsibility: The Government of the Northwest Territories’ Approach to Engaging with Aboriginal Governments” [add link] is the foundation of the GNWT’s approach to working together with Aboriginal governments in the NWT. It was developed based on discussion with Aboriginal governments and community leaders about some of the successes and areas where improvements can be made to strengthen government-to-government relationships.
