Overview
Chapter 5 and Appendix “B” of the Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement (SDMCLCA) sets out the commitment of the Government to negotiate a self-government agreement with the Sahtu Dene and Métis of Fort Good Hope. The Sahtu Dene and Métis of Fort Good Hope are represented by the Fort Good Hope Dene Band, the Fort Good Hope Métis Nation Local #54 Land Corporation and the Yamoga Land Corporation through the K’ahsho Got’ine Self Government Secretariat. Negotiators for the K’ahsho Got’ine of Fort Good Hope, the GNWT and the Government of Canada signed the K’ahsho Got’ine of Fort Good Hope Self-Government Process and Schedule Agreement (PSA) in May 2016. Negotiations towards concluding Module One of the K’ahsho Got’ine Self Government Agreement are underway.
