Voices in all regions of the Northwest Territories need to be heard in discussions and decisions that affect them.

This work will be led by the Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs with the support of all GNWT departments and agencies.

What we will do:

1. Ensure that GNWT decision making reflects a full understanding of communities and regions.

How we will do it:

1.a. Amend existing delegations of authority to empower regional and community staff, and provide training to ensure staff are aware of their decision-making authorities.

How we will demonstrate progress:

1.a. Departmental review completed and decision making authority amended (Winter 2020); Training program developed (Summer 2021); Implementation plan announced (Fall 2021); Staff training provided (Fall 2021); and Regions and communities express more decision making authority (Summer 2022)
